Most materials come out burned, charred, or inconsistent at best. I'm not sure what the issue is, and I cannot rely on FSL to help me. What I've found, is that ever proofgrade materials still cut like shit. The laser cuts themselves are okay, and there IS a learning curve for the best settings on different materials. The Muse: Cuts well enough (if you spend days re-calibrating the optics), but is still designed rather poorly (I'm very sad to see that Dremel essentially cloned the Muse). Every single export (even with the suites they list as compatible) has severe issues, and I have been repeatedly lied to by multiple FSL Customer service people, who all contradict themselves on what was marketed as a standard feature of the device. They claim that RE3 meshes well with other graphics and CAD programs, and this is a flat-out lie.

Basically, they ran up the clock on being able to return the device.Įventually I was able to get the device to update (MONTHS later), with no help from FSL.

My device simply would not connect to the internet for updates, AND the software would not work without an update. My very first issue was that the Muse did not ship with updated firmware (which IS Retina Engrave), and I spent a good month and a half on the phone or email with FSL trying to fix the issue. It has been the number one issue with my Muse since I bought it. I have experience using many different CNC and Laser software, but Retina Engrave is probably the worst. The software: in my experience, is garbage. Thank you for asking questions, as it increases visibility on the FSL and Muse Issues. I am looking for a sanity check, I know when I bought my first 3d printer there was a lot I wish I could go back and warn myself about that is why I am asking you amazing people to tell me what you think and weigh in with some opinions. I would be looking at why to go with them or not at this point. I am not sure what people think but the sales guy didn't do a good job selling their product even though what I read online sounds good. They just seemed ridiculously high priced for what I would be getting. **Looking for input**ģ) I reached out to Epliog and got a price breakdown. I am just not really sure of the pitfalls of their machines and what would make them stand out against the Epilog series. I heard great things about the Muse and honestly, I was thinking about going with the PS20 Laser System that comes in at the 5,995 USD without a filter.

I just read some concerns with overheating and I plan to run this machine like a workhorse however, all the people I know that have them love them.Ģ) Full Spectrum: I REALLY liked the Full Spectrum machine when I looked over their line.

I am planning to buy a machine and as I continue to expand buy more from a select company to stay consistent.ġ) Glowforge: I really liked the Glowforge Pro when I looked at it with the price coming in 6990 USD with filter however, I really got hung up on the device not being compatible with a rotary and the fear of running the machine non-stop for hours on end. On reading this sub I came across three real contenders 1) Glow forge, 2) Muse Hobby Laser 20x12, and 3) the Epilog Legend Series. The current Epilog at the library does a poop job etching the Acrylic (which is another huge concern of mine). Right now I use one from our local Library that is a low-end epilog but it is time-consuming to go there constantly, plus I have enough work now to warrant getting one personally.įor me, I cut A LOT of acrylic (1/4") with wood etching thrown in there. Hello all! Long time lurker in this sub and a lot of great reading!
